About Beloit Marketplace

Connecting the Beloit College community through sustainable commerce.

Our Mission

Beloit Marketplace is a student-run initiative designed to make buying and selling used items easier, safer, and more sustainable for students, faculty, and staff. We believe in reducing waste by giving pre-loved textbooks, furniture, and electronics a second life within our campus community.

Our Story

Beloit Marketplace was born out of a shared frustration. Built by Madhav Singh '28 and Jose Larrain '25, the idea sparked from the challenges we faced navigating campus life. We quickly realized how surprisingly difficult it was to buy or sell dorm essentials and textbooks.

Every semester, but especially during the chaotic weeks of moving in at the start of term or packing up before leaving for break, we saw a massive disconnect. Students were throwing away perfectly good items simply because they couldn't take them home, while others were spending more than they needed to on new replacements. We wanted to create a centralized, safe, and exclusive place where the Beloit community could easily connect, reduce campus waste, and support one another.
